2025 | Year In Review

December 29, 2025

A year of worldwide turmoil, ups and downs in Eagle County, and a kid and his pup who make me smile every day.

I read 24 books!

A Kid From Marlboro Road by Ed Burns | Foster by Claire Keegan | Olga Dies Dreaming by Xochitl Gonzalez | The Music Shop by Rachel Joyce | Unreasonable Hospitality: The Remarkable Power of Giving People More Than They Expect by Will Guidara | The Last Days of the Midnight Ramblers by Sarah Tomlinson | The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins | The Ride Of Her Life by Elizabeth Letts | Deep Cuts by Holly Brickley | Thinking Like A Wolf: Lessons From The Yellowstone Packs by Rick McIntyre | Help Wanted by Adelle Waldman | The Three Lives of Cate Kay by Kate Fagan | Why Alanis Morissette Matters by Megan Volpert | Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid | The Editor by Sara B. Franklin | The Whyte Python World Tour by Travis Kennedy | Hollywood High by Bruce Handy | The Lions of Fifth Avenue by Fiona Davis | The Horse by Willy Vlautin | The Midnight Library by Matt Haig | Friends: Understanding the Power of Our Most Important Relationships by Robin Dunbar | Say Everything by Ione Skye | The Uncool by Cameron Crowe | We’ve Decided To Go In A Different Direction by Tess Sanchez

Live music:

Larkin Poe at the Ogden Theatre | Eric Church and Stephen Wilson Jr. at Red Rocks | Jason Bonham at Ford Amp (Fleet was with us!) | The Black Crowes at Ford Amp | Marc Broussard at the Vilar | Paul McCartney at Coors Field

Our travel adventures:

Laguna Beach, Miami, Moab (twice!), and Mexico.

Milestones:

  • Fleet finished kindergarten strong, turned six, and had a wonderful first semester of first grade. Wow. He won the Camaraderie Hawk Award in March and the Growth Hawk Award in October. We are so proud of our sweet boy.
  • The world said goodbye to Ozzy Osbourne and Robert Redford.
  • We celebrated National Fossil Day.
  • All three of us saw the Northern Lights from our back deck.
  • Our son found snowboarding and horseback riding. It’s amazing! ❤️
  • Dan and I celebrated 12 years on Radio Free Minturn and moved our show to Mondays, 11am – 1pm!
  • I’m writing for six magazines and hope to expand my role for at least a few of those publications. We’ll see what next year brings.
  • I’ve been a writing tutor at CMC for 12 years!

Notes:

  • Secret Waterfall is still a family favorite.
  • Wookie found out he’s Jewish! Hahaha – long story.
  • A juvenile Allosaurus has his head on straight because of us!
  • Wookie was let go from Cordillera and is starting a new era with Weston. Those eight months of unemployment were definitely an adjustment but we survived and celebrated 13 years together (this time around). ❤️
  • Over the past few months, Fleet has been enjoying making all kinds of art which inspired me to organize a First Grade Art Exhibit at the Avon Library for January. Wish me luck!
  • Zephyr is loving spending time with Bolt. They are adorable.
  • I miss Sedona all the time.

Movies: F1, Deliver Me From Nowhere, and Jay Kelly

Television: Survivor, Fire Country, Sheriff Country, Tracker, Elsbeth, and The Bear.

This summer was full of fire danger and then it finally rained in August. We had the best fall I can remember in my 23-year Colorado history and the slowest beginning to the winter I’ve ever seen. The snow will come – we live in the Rocky Mountains – and we have snowboarded six days as a family so far. Here’s to health, family, and happiness in 2026. There is nothing more important. ❤️
